What is the Books & Centaurs?

We are a small handmade business focused on traditional hand bookbinding. We love everything about books and we make them too. We are inspired by an older era, when things were made by hand and therefore had something unique. We are passionate about history, mythical castles and old libraries, leather-bound books and well-crafted tools.

Why Centaurs?

The Centaur is a mythical creature found in many cultures. In ancient Greek mythology it was a creature representing the secret knowledge or wisdom and lived on the misty mountain of Pelion. Half man, half horse; balancing between the wild nature of a beast and a civilised person. It is a symbol of the adventurous, almost wild side of man that keeps secrets of the past alive. This symbol has inspired us to keep the beautiful art of hand bookbinding alive and explore its history.
